Rehan Muttalib (Purplebelt - Cobrinha BJJ) "Breaking The Mold" **VIDEO**
Over the years there has been a constant debate between "Full Time Athletes" and "Education." Many had believed that in order to obtain constant podium results one must study and practice the Art full time, however there are a few dedicated individuals who seem to have found the balance between the mat and education. One of those Student Athletes is Rehan Muttalib (28 years old, Southbay, CA).
We began sponsoring Rehan as a bluebelt back in early 2012. Little did we know he had been delaying his medical career in order to become a World Champion. In 2013 Rehan could no longer delay his education, he was accepted to American University of the Caribbean (Med School).
Fast forward to 2015 Rehan is back on the Competition Scene after completing his 2 years of Med School. Rehan has not skipped a beat, placing in all the larger IBJJF Tournaments while studying for the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step 1, while simultaneously preparing for the 2015 IBJJF Worlds.
Check out the video and see if he passes his State Board!
